  • How much can I claim working from home – self-employed?

    Self employed traders can claim a portion of the actual costs for working from home (i.e. heat, light, water, mortgage interest etc.) Alternatively, they can use simplified expenses which allow a flat rate per month based on the number of hours worked from home.

  • Can I buy electric vehicle through my company - as a sole trader?

    If purchased by a sole trader, the car will be owned privately, and mileage can be charged on any business travel. The current mileage rates are 45p per mile for the first 10,0000 miles and 25p thereafter. Contact IN-Accountancy to arrange a consultation to discuss your personal circumstances.

  • What expenses can I claim for my personal car for business use?

    The current allowable mileage rates are 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and 25p thereafter.

  • When do I need to register business with HMRC?

    Sole traders must register their business with HMRC by 5 October following the end of the tax year that they commenced trading.

  • What happens if my business grows and I want to change my legal structure?
